| 内容記述 | In this paper, following Tenny (1994), I claim that the affectedness condition, which is claimed to be responsible for the derivation of the middle construction and Theme NP-Preposing in passive nominals (cf. Anderson (1979)), is subsumed under the aspectuality of verbs. I suggest that these constructions can be syntactically accounted for given that the aspectuality of verbs is incorporated in syntactic structure. Along the line of Pesetsky (1990), I will argue that a zero morpheme plays a crucial role in the derivation of middles and passive nominals, presenting a theory of zero morphemes in terms of the aspectuality of verbs. | |||||
