| 内容記述 | This paper focuses on the structure and derivation of an answer to a yes / no question in English and Japanese, showing that the one for English involves νP-deletion at PF and that its Japanese counterpart involves overt verb movement to C, followed by TP-deletion at PF. Then, it will be argued along the line of Miyagawa (2005, 2007) that the difference between English and Japanese is closely tied to the difference in the locus of agreement in these languages. | |||||
