| 内容記述 | This paper is an attempt to offer an idea to construct a hybrid civilization for Japanese and Indonesian people to coexist in Indonesia. Today in Indonesia there are some thousands of Japanese families who live with their Indonesian servants and many of them suffer from hardships owing to their lack of understanding Indonesian culture. I will take a case of a Japanese wife who employed a maid but failed to manage her. The Japanese housewife could have managed successfully if she had learned Indonesian culture, especially Javanese one, since her maid was a Javanese. The Javanese people, who still speak as daily language not national language i. e. Indonesian but their own native language i. e. Javanese, rarely use the word of gratitude to their servants. So without doubt the maid misunderstood her mistress' Indonesian words of gratitude. The intercultural communication between them thus broke down. The civilization itself is a hybrid high culture which is composed of several cultures. Now the hybrid civilization must be constructed among the civilizations of the world. The practices of Japanese families in Indonesia is certaily one of the examples. | |||||
